Criteria for a judgement of malignancy
- high cellularity
- high mitotic activity (more than four mitotic figures per 10 high-power fields)
- pleomorphism
- hemorrhage
- necrosis (Am J Surg Pathol 1989; 13: 640-658)
Gross findings that distinguished benign from malignant tumors
- more than 10cm
- less pedunculated
- atypical sites (parietal pleura of the chest wall, diaphragm, or mediastinum)
- necrosis and hemorrhage
